Another dog pic

I was at the dog park the other day and while most of my shots were really bad (poor light no Speedlite) I was able to salvage this one so I'd like some input on my amateurish pp skills. I adjusted the contrast, brightness, hue, midtone contrast and hue/saturation. I also cropped in a bit due to part of another dog in the fore ground.

red eyes....it's all I can see.

The people in the background are grabbing way to much of my attention.

When I really focus on the dog though, he/she is gorgeous.

Yeah I can't believe I missed the spooky eyes as so many other pics from that shoot had even worse eyes. If I knew anything about Photoshop I'm sure I could find a way to get the guys in the background out of the picture.
