Here are some pics from todays visit to the Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, MN. I have more, but will wait to upload them until after the Packers bEagles game.

C&C is welcome, since it seems that I have a ways to go with the flash. They are better than yesterday's, but not as good as they could be. The fact that there were 3 million other people under there today didn't help much. My time there was very limited.

A location like that is screaming for OCF. I would like to have about three strobes in my bag when I walk in there.

One well placed strobe would work as well.

They look flashed, which is a shame.

Do tell your setup and settings. There may be some slight adjustments that will make a world of difference.

I think I would have tried OCF, with a few flashes shot through the ice to illuminate the cave. Just a thought, but I think it would look cool.

Ice makes for a great bounce flash.

Here are some more for half time.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will certainly try to take it to heat.

There are a thousand excuses for not using the OCF on this one, the biggest being the constant traffic of folks with their cellphone cameras, and the substance altered teens trying to knock the ice down with rocks. I didn't have an "assistant", and the sheer volume of people was prohibitive as far as any real attention to photography. (at least for me anyways.) I was more worried about keeping an eye on the things I was able to bring with me....... Followed close behind by my complete lack of gear. I would have wanted a stand or two, an additional strobe or two, some radio triggers and a helper. None of which I have.

Yet. ;)

This is a really cool location. I'm glad I have had the opportunity to get there, and know it's there for me. It is a little difficult to get to...... five flights worth of stairs that have been closed since the first snow. Right now there is more than 40" of the ****e stuff which makes the stairs difficult at best.... especially with thousands of dollars in gear. I WILL get more gear. I WILL learn how to use it, and I WILL go back.

Oh yes..... I WILL go back. :D

Here's one for size comparison

It's a really cool location. I hope that some day I can learn how to shoot it. :D

lol@substance altered teens....

Better

i think the one of the other photographer is the best. OCF is the only way to go in this situation

I do like them but it is very obvious that a flsh was used.

A flash in one hand and a camera in the other works wonders when bouncing your light. Practice makes perfect.
