Another one of those "why so much" lenses - 2,000mm Nikon

from what I understand from research I've done in the past, the 500, 1000 and 2000 reflex lenses were made by Meade for Nikon. Of course they put their specific mount stuff on them but it's essentially a meade OTA.

Reflex-Nikkor 2000mm f/11 Lens

The 2000mm f/11 was one of those "prestige" lenses that never really did sell much, but it looked good in the literature!

It looks ugly.

And no I'm not saying that cause its a Nikon - but it really does look like an ugly lens; the sort of thing that never really got anywhere near a designer and stayed very much in the engineers hands it seems.
