Another "which lens" question.

No brainer, buy the Tamron, it's looking to be one of the best bargains out there. You can pick them up used for ~$350. You can find some samples and info over on FM.

I own the Tamron 70-300mm VC lens and I testing it against the Canon's. (sorry, I do not have the sigma)

I have not finish my test yet, but so far ..

At 70mm The center performance is quite good. Even wide open. It is as good as the L lens if not better

At 70mm wide open, the corner performance is not as good as the 70-200mm f/4L lens. It is a little soft when compared with the L

The color of the photos produce by the Tamron is better than the Canon 70-300 IS lens. And it is about the same as the Canon 70-200mm f/4

Build quality wise, Canon 70-200mm > Tamron 70-300mm VC > Canon 70-300mm IS. And it is bigger and heavier than the Canon 70-300mm IS lens.

Once I have time, I will finish the test.
