The place I got all my Macro shots today holds colonies of ants but I've never managed to get a decent shot of one as they scurry about so fast. Today was no exception and I clipped his butt off. Hey ho, the efforts will continue:(:(

I like this a lot. The crop makes it look like he (she?) is entering the frame.

You're too generous but I'll accept that. Thanks;)

For ants you want a lure of some kind. Either a natural one like if you find them tending to aphids on a leaf or harvesting from something or you can engineer one. Honey is popular (careful honey is a poison to bees if it comes from a different hive) but sugar water is also very popular. Basically a tiny drop can at least bring them somewhere where they will be static for a short while and give you an opportunity. Rotting fruit is another good natural option to lure them in.

I have never had luck getting a shot of an ant so I think this is exceptional!

What likely caused the "brand" on the joint of the center leg?

Well, if you ask me it doesn't have to be perfect to be considered good or pleasing. I like it a lot and besides, I'm not an "ant butt man" anyway. :biggrin-93:

Me neither I suppose.

Cheers!;)
