Here's another one any advice would help...Thanks!

Well your exif says: Exposure Mode = auto exposure (0)

If you're not up to manually setting your exposure, try something like 'night portrait' for a shot like this. On the wheel it looks like a person with a star above them. I'd make it my mission to get comfortable with program mode, aperture priority and shutter priority. You'll have much more control over your end result this way.

Focal Length = 220/10 mm ===> 22 mm

That's a little bit wide for portraiture. Try to stay around 50mm for people, expecially headshots. Wide angles tend to distort facial features, limbs, etc..

EDIT:
It's not a bad picture.. but credit goes to the camera since it did all the work deciding how to take the shot (auto).

I see you are using the built-in flash. Good for you.

Visit www.strobist.com and look throught the Lighting 101 Archives. If you can learn to use the flash and the camera in the manual modes you have a lot more control.

Read throught your users manual and explore the 3 different metering modes you have available:
  • Spot
  • Center-weighted
  • Matrix
