Thinking about a trip to Belize... just wondering if any TPF'ers had been there. Looking for information, what to see, what to photograph! :)

Belize is awesome. It's still VERY third world, so there is SO much to photograph. Everything from the rain forest and it's inhabitants to the poverty to the wealth of the vacation properties...
Macro could be amazing. Bugs and flowers and all kinds of things. It's been about 6 years since I have been there but I'd go in a heartbeat if I could!

It's the Caribbean, what's not to love about it ;)

(Never been there, but I'm not from too far away)

Cool... glad to hear it! Looking mostly at at my usual, wildlife, flowers, and insects... probably with a few landscapes thrown in! lol! Not near as much online about Belize as there is for Costa Rica.... but since the are neighbors, should be fairly similar in subjects. Plan to do some diving, kayaking, and a LOT of snorkeling also. Where did you go? I am thinking Placencia...

Yep.. there is that! I think it would be a great trip! Considered Jamaica, or the BVI's... but decided to keep it a little closer.

It's just now really attracting the vacation crowd. I know that Carnival built a resort there, you might see if they have anything.
We went cave tubing while we were there and it was a phenomenal trip. A hike up through the rain forest and then tubing down the river through the caves.
I will have to look back at the vacation stuff and see where it was at. Belieze isn't all that huge! Just make sure you stay within the guarded areas and don't wander the borders. You'll see the armed guards here and there-they're a good thing. A really really good thing.

oh, now the BVI is nice. I honeymooned on Tortola, fantastic island. I am from the USVI myself, Saint Croix is my home island. I'll be there mid Sept. for 3 weeks. Yay!

I actually have a wrestler that JUST got back from a study abroad in Belize. I'll have to ask her about the "unknowns" for you. She SHOULD have been wrestling in London this week, but injured her spine last year during competition in Sweden. Amazing young lady.

It really looks like a nice place to relax! I miss the water.. used to live in Florida! Belize sounds perfect! I read about the cave tubing.. that sounds fun.

Never been down that way! I have been to Bimini, but that is it. I will have to visit your home turf.... maybe next year! :)

Thank you, I really appreciate it! :)

You should see some of these and of course post your usual epic pics

Bugs of Belize

Thanks for the link, 2Wheel.. that rocks! I am going to have to find me a Fer-de-lance.. that would be cool to shoot! lol!

Belize is WAY up there at the top of my "places I wanna go" list!
But then, I agree with Trever1t, it's the Caribbean, what's not to love!
I can't imagine you'll have any problem at all with the "what to photograph" part of your question--just take plenty of extra memory cards, I suspect you'll need them!
