Anyone convert a guitar strap to camera strap?

I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ300 and am thinking of doing this. I have some ideas but thought I'd ask to see if some of you's might have done this and have any recommendations. one thing which is a must have is to make it a quick release.

I didn't convert it myself but I think the strap I used on my Pentax ME 30 years ago was actually made as a guitar strap. It didn't have quick releases, or I'd never have trusted it!

This strap was the one that came off the camera when I was cycling - causing my camera to bounce along the road - Fortunately no harm was done, that wouldn't be the case with most of today's cameras!

yeah your right about the older cameras. I had a Pentax Spotmatic II in the early 70's and it was built pretty good. I found some QD loops that will hopefully work with my guitar strap.....
