Anyone thinking about a new 5.6" DSLR screen?

Not sure if it will replace tethering for me nor be much more effective than my hoodman. Thoughts?

I'm not sure about that model specifically, but I have been looking into them lately as well. I think when I upgrade to FF I'll pick one up because I've gotten pretty attached to the articulating screen on my 60D. There are lots of situations where getting physically behind the camera is either really hard or impossible.... I think something like this would be super useful. The ones I that was drawn to weren't the bracket type though. They either float separate from the camera on a cable, or clip into the hotshoe.

It has my attention though I'm just wondering if for the money it will truly satisfy me enought to both replace tethering on a laptop on location or chimping with the hoodman. I'd hate to buy it and still use my "old ways" hehe

If I ever upgrade from my d5100, I may have to look into one as I'm pretty attached to the articulated screen on my present camera.

I saw that as well. Honestly, for $400, I don't think I'd be interested in it. It's simply not a drastic improvement over the 3.2" of m D800. I understand it can't be ipad size and still remain super portable, but, for me, it's just not enough of an improvement over the 3.2" I already have.

I have to agree, I loved the articulating screen on the D5100 for the brief time I had it but for that price...meh. If I was into video I could see it but given it's bulk and the fact that it would make getting to the left hand buttons more difficult, I would only attach it for shots that were specifically very difficult to get otherwise and then remove it as soon as I was done. A lot of hassle and money for something I would rarely use.

I got a little turned off about "6 batteries". Between that, the weight of the device itself, my D700, grip, and the 70-200.... well anyways it'd be heavy.

The one I was researching used the same battery as the 5D2 or D700 (they had a different version for each). Lemme see if I can find it....

I guess if you shoot a lot of video it makes sense to get this screen. I personally don't even use the built-in lcd so I wouldn't get it.

I always shoot using only the top lcd, and very rarely need to review a photo using the big one on the back.

No thanks. I barely use the rear lcd as it is..
