Wondering if they're worth the money? - I dont' have a problem with the mouse, but understand that the pen can be a little more precise.. any suggestions for about $100 ?

Wacom bamboo is in that price range, and for me Wacom is the way to go.
I used to have a Wacom bamboo, upgraded to Wacom Intuos4 not long ago.
Working with good tablets is really great and it's not really hard to get used to.

I just got myself a medium sized Wacom Intuos4 for Christmas, and am finding that the learning curve is not so steep as I feared it might be. Pretty natural, actually. I would guess that the Bamboo in your price range would be just as intuitive, being the same basic platform.

I got the Intous4t for Christmas also and agree, its not hard to get used to at all. I thought it would be but its quite a pleasure. Only hiccup is that there seems to be a delay in LR when I used the clone/heal brush. I have to look into that but otherwise its very snappy and accurate!
