Anyone Used Sigma 50-500mm.F4/6.3 EX for Nikon:

I'm planning to buy one in the next two weeks and just looking for some opinions if anyone has one.

Ended up going for a Sigma 170-500mm (http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/telezoom/170-500mm.htm).

I've not had the chance to copy any images from the camera back to the PC for closer inspection, but from the camera's screen it certainly is looking good.

I heard good things about it... but a few not so good things as well.

- You need a lot of light for it to get good pics
- Not the best walk around lens, if thats what you plan to use it as.
- Definately a tripod only lens... very hard to get clear pics with no motion blur without a tripod on the long end.

Thanks for the reply.

I took it to the Zoo a couple of weekends ago and used it hand held all day. It was a bright day so I just bumped the camera's ISO up to 1600. A bit of a crazy way to do it but it did the trick anyway

Here is an example...

I took a few low light shots at the weekend in my garden, a dull overcast day, but I haven't put them on the PC yet... if you interested I'll let you know how they turned out.
