Just curious, been reading up on it and comparing it to some other camera bodies that are more expensive, i.e D7000, and it seems to do pretty well. So, was curious if anyone shoots with it.

Oh, and I did do a search on the forums, but didn't find any topics here about it.

Edit: Or the a55.

No Jace. No one has ever puchased a Sony A580 or A55 yet, and Sony is really pissed off about it too. ;)

If you had asked "Who is using a ......"

This would be useful if I had asked if anyone has bought one...

but, lol

I have purchased and I am using a A560, the major differences being the A580 having a little larger buffer and 2MP on the sensor. In the real world I don't think you will notice the differences except for there being $150 less in your wallet from the A580. I'm totally happy with my purchase and fills my needs nicely. The only downside is you can't find them discounted but you can get the Sony battery grip for almost $100 less from B&H. I do like having dual card slots as well and keep 1 16G card in each slot.

I have the sony A330 (which is a more entry level model) and i am enjoying it thoroughly!! It is my first DSLR and i am finding it an easy camera to use and i like the menu functions and all the explaintions it offers!

i shoot with a A-55 anything specific you are wondering?

Well, after making up my mind this morning, after reading up more on the 580, I went to Frys to hold it. I liked how it felt, it's rather lightweight, and how it shot in the store, so made up my mind. The guy there was talking me into that one, but I told him I'd found some good package deals on cameta. Frys had it with two lenses for around 1135 with taxes (After 100 instant rebate), but cameta had more stuff to go with it... short story long, they did all they could to match the bundle though they couldn't give me everything, and as I already have some of the stuff that cameta was throwing in...

Got the camera kit (18-55 lens), lowepro bag, two class 10 8gig cards, uv filters, and the 75-300mm lense (sal75300) all for around 1130 with tax. Woohoo!

SO! To any that has a frys around, they will match even an internet price so long as the place you're buying from is an authorized dealer.

Oh! And for those that hate Sony that may read this, I didn't crop out the animal crackers, cause, everyone loves animal crackers.

Nah those are the wifes, but if they would have I would have popped for the D7000.

Congrats and welcome to the Sony side, I'm sure you will enjoy it very much!

Thanks! I was very impressed with the 300mm lens in-store, and the in-camera stabilization. Not being used to holding a camera with a foot of lens (or close enough) sprouting out of it, the thing was shaking like i was on crack. After snapping though and previewing the photo, everything was crisp and clear and from what I could see no blurred motion lines or what have you. Just can't wait to try it out in the real world :D

im not sure that sony has updated the 580s noise reduction or not but at least for the a55 it does very good with high iso scenes. i offten find myself using iso 1600 or 3200 with clearly better results than my a-300 which if im not mistaken has the same noise reduction software as the a-580
