As a biginner Want to get new DSLR

Hi All,

Am new to photography, and learning photography, Planning to purchase DSLR, So selected two models as per my budget

1. Canon 1200D
2. Nikon D3200


Can anybody tell me, for which camera I should go and why.

My opinion is go to a shop and handle both cameras, pick which ever 'feels' right to you.

The Canon 1200D (EOS Rebel T5 in the USA, EOS Kiss X70 in japan) is an uber basic DSLR.

The T5 does not have Spot light metering mode.
The Nikon D3200 does, and the spot metered moves to coincide with the selected auto focus point.

IMO the Nikon D3200 has a better light metering sensor and a slightly better auto focus module.

You can see here that the Nikon's image sensor has a higher performance rating but you would probable not see any difference between photos of the same scene made with each camera.

The bottom line is the Nikon is somewhat more versatile and usable.

Definitely get to a shop and put your hands on whatever you can. I did as much as I could, ended up buying something I didn't get to handle, and am sending it back.

D3200. It's better than the 1200D.
