Jim is very, very right about the insight, I think.
What shows in most pictures are the extremes, clearly because they make themselves photogenic.
My friends are more typical of the gay community and probably wouldn't be caught dead at a rally like this.

This isn't typical of the gay community any more than pictures of a Tea Party rally are typical of conservatives.

A good insight into Gay community............

How is that possible for an event that happens only once a year and is used as an opportunity to dress as crazy as you can and act as foolish and bizarrely as you can - and invite everyone from across the globe to join in with only one loosely held requirement, that you be gay (or at least pretend to be)?

It would be no more insightful into the photographic community if we had a once a year partyfest where anything goes. What I might do at a party like that would quite doubtfully be any insight into what I am like the other 364 days a year.

It reminds me of Comic Con, kinda the extreme of the culture!
