CC is always welcome

i guess i was trying to portray loneliness? looks like it didn't work.
can you really not tell that he's facing the curtain not the camera?

I like the effort and idea of the shot, its just hard to get a grasp on what is going on. I also think making your subject tack sharp will help focus the viewers eye more, but maybe you were going for the whole soft effect all around. I also think if you try to get a more dramatic pose from the subject it will make the photo more impressionable.

Not without spending some time which I didn't but my remark was more of a joke than anything.

But it does bring a question to mind. Does it matter which way he is facing?

I think it does, or at least could. A person sitting on a bed looking at a draped window, maybe the person is blind, or catatonic. Definitely get the isolation. I like it.

Would you have gotten it without the OP mentioning it? Because I was talking about my feeling before knowing what the idea was and, to me, nothing in the body language said anything about loneliness.

And of course, that is just me.

I got the isolation right off the bat but I'm not sure about loneliness. For that, they would need to be peeking through or something. I just got a feeling of someone isolated and away from the outside world for whatever reason, not necessarily someone that minded it.

it seems like most of us, including me, agree that the pose could be changed somewhat to add a more dramatic/ lonely feel to the image. i'll see what i can do in terms of a re shoot, and maybe post another picture soon!

I agree i think if the model's shoulders were drooped and maybe his head in his hands the loneliness might have come across stronger.

Also the angle is a bit off imo. The dude is in middle of the frame. He should be more to the left.

Sounds good to me. But keep in mind that some feelings are very hard to convey through your images because you don't always see them as others do. If you think about it, most of us can't convey feelings through words in person because the recipient's way of looking at it is different. So conveying feelings through images can be that much harder.
