Were these shot in the Marin Headlands?

In the first one, the background looks fake and is kinda throwing me off.

But besides that, everything looks great!

And this is just me, but for some reason I hate the look of being covered in sand, like her feet are in the first photo. It just comes across as gross to me xD

lol, well it's not fake and I like sand...but to each his own. Having studio lighting in a natural environment is something new to me and the cause of that look for sure.

No, it's a little cove I have frequented for 24 years about 10 miles north of Santa Cruz.

Two things glare here. And it's not that they are bad or good, they just stand out. 1: the intense rim light. Don't get me wrong, I like a nice rim light, but here it makes her skin seem almost translucent. Secondly, her unmentionables seem to be wet (from the shirt ties? Maybe), which seems... Off. I'm a big fan of OCF, so maybe that's why I'm so biased towards the first. I like that "fake" look, mentioned above. [emoji106]

Twice. Once i was prone, laying in the sand and had to actually roll, the way a little kid does, to get away from oncoming surf all the while holding the camera up as far as I could...must have looked incredible!

Lol, I kinda assumed it wasn't actually fake. I'm just letting you know that's how it looks to me. It reminds me of the green screen images I've done. I think it just takes practice. I haven't done it much myself either.

After almost 3 months without a camera in hand I had time to take a little beauty to the beach for some well deserved photo time yesterday!

A Standford University student without prior modeling experience I think she did pretty well.

First, 3 months without a camera...you should see a doctor about that! Thanks for confronting this problem head-on and submitting the proof that you're working to move past it by shooting. Lovely model and a nice series--thanks for sharing.

My comments...

#1: This truly does look like a Green Screen shot. The shadow in the lower right is distracting to me--is that your shadow? In part it's distracting b/c it seems inconsistent...her's is sharp and well-defined, this one is fuzzy.

#2: Nicely executed. I especially love how you've captured the cloth/wrap here.

#3: My favorite. Her skin/face seems a little light. Otherwise it's a lovely shot.

#4: Also very nice though I think the pose (the lower half) seems awkward. For instance, if you cropped her at the waist, I think it would be an even more effective shot.
