Interesting Amolitor. I like the concept and the reflection. But would like to see a better reflection and some of the petals get lost in the white on where it is laying on the white base closest to the lighting. Would a black bg and base have made the flower pop more?

I like the concept, and the out-of-focus lines in the foreground and background tie it together and make it work, but I wish the end of the shadow weren't cut off. Better to cut off more or not do it at all, imo.

If you strung together like 20 images made in this style, you could call it a 'series'. As shown, it looks like an experiment, or an exercise-- and there's nothing wrong with that. I like the light,delicate tonalities you have captured. Is this still with the view camera? Something about it makes me think 'view camera'.

This was actually shot with my D3100, as was the previous similar one with irises. I have a 4x5 negative of the irises in addition, but what I put up here was all digital.

There might be a series in play here, I'm not sure. I'm working on a portfolio of related photographs, some of which are in this style. I recently declared in public that I was too much of a dilettante to ever put together an organized portfolio, so now of course I can do nothing else. We shall see. I was probably right, but there's some material emerging.

I think photographs grouped in series tend to strengthen one another, as do so many other things when aggregated.

I agree. It'd be great if a single image, all by itself, could be a powerful and distinctive statement in its own right. In this modern world, there are so many photographs which have been made it's increasingly hard to make that happen. Most every photograph is basically the same as some other photograph that's already been made. Pretty much any photograph has a pretty strong lineage - 'that's cool, it's a lot like.. ' is pretty much the order of the day.

My thinking is that collections might be where the oomph is to be found today. Sure, we've all seen a photo kind of like that one, and a photo kind of like that one. What we haven't seen is this particular collection of photographs, all pulling together in the same direction.

This is beautiful. How and where did you photograph this flower?

I shot it on top of my washing machine Lighting is with a flash inside a white plastic bowl to soften it up a bit. The blurry lines in the background? That's where the top of the machine meets the little console part at the back.

This is pretty heavily photoshopped, essentially adjusting the whiteness of the surrounding areas to meet my vision, and smearing out the background a bit to give a more abstract/painted look.

I like this one. I do agree about the shadow, but it's not a deal breaker.

I like the minimalism of it and love that it was shot on a washing machine! I think that would make an interesting series: to have several images photographed on domestic type appliances, but having more of a studio appearance ... it could subtly suggest ideas about consumerism and advertisements. You always see these sparkling clean commercials and advertisements about these domestic tasks which are usually mundane, or dirty jobs. Anyway, first impression ...

It's not THAT heavily photoshopped. This is the.. well, Straight Out Of The Camera would be a lie, it's straight out of the raw conversion, so there's some basic sharpening, contrast, exposure adjustments:

Looks great nonetheless. I cant decide on which looks better. They both look creative.
