B&W for C&C

My only suggestion would be to crop some of the sky out, this will define your subject more and make the photo stronger. Other than that (or even leaving it as-is), it is a great capture. Well done.

Really nice shot and processing. My only issues are that the darkening in the upper corners is a little over the top, while the lower corners are a little too bright. I wouldn't crop it.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the compliments!

My settings were:

Canon XSI
17-40 4.0L @ 17mm
1.3s at f13, ISO 100
2 and 3 stop Hitech GND filters used. These filters are horrible. It caused a very strong magenta color cast. Went B&W to try to save it. I've since purchased 2 and 3 stop Lee GNDs and they are waaaay better.

There is definitely some barrel distortion. The shot was taken at the lens' widest angle; definite learning experience.

I used photoshop elements 8 to get it to look somewhat right (at least what looked right to me!).

Danny, seriously, I love it. Just beautiful. It might be nit-picking... but maybe just take a smidge off the top of the sky to bring the horizon line just a little higher away from the center, and lighten up on the burned corners just a touch. (similar to previous comments) All in all imho it's a great shot!

When you say "2 and 3 stop filters" how many do you mean?? lol

Hi and thanks! I meant that i used 2 filters at once for a total of 5 stops.

Nice shot and composition.

+1 on White's crop, there's a bit to much on the left side.
Plus some of the shadows are blocked.
