Baby Photography?

Wanted to expand from just shooting cars. I often photograph my son. I find it to be difficult, he doesn't sit still... (Not to mention I'm still learning with my off camera flash and trigger) How do you keep him occupied while shooting. I gave him a stuffed animal to help, but it only worked for 5 minutes tops. Here are some from today. Any tips and critiques welcome Thankks in advance :thumbup:

You need someone else's kid to practice on!

Its so hard to capture great shots of my own kids because:
1. My kids don't listen to me! (5, 3 and 1)
2. You really need someone else to worry about what the kid is putting in his/her mouth or where he/she is going so you can worry about the lighting/photography part of taking the pictures, AND someone to put the baby back and move him/her this angle or that angle so you can stay where you are to capture the shot you want! (of couse be prepared to run when photographing a child! lol)

I take photos of my kids every day. My best shots are when they are being them and I just happen to be 'ready' for the shot. I rarely use flash, I instead position myself where the best light is and either wait for them to move into the spot I want them or move around them until the lighting is where I want it. I use al servo focus so I just keep the focus point on their eyes and shoot until they move out of my light . I do bounce flash (inside) if I have no light but I hate doing that because we have green walls and I get color cast on them. Good luck!

Umm the lighting is pretty good, but he look a bit green in the 1st two photos and in the last picture it looks like you photo shopped his head on a body, because the lighting is so bright against the background. The posing on the 1st and 3rd photos are cute though.

I agree it does look like I photo shopped his head(Now that you mention it). I didn't though. I had the flash too high and it created a shadow on the rest of his body.

Umm the lighting is pretty good,...

the lighting does not look good to me. It is very harsh and it is leaving harsh shadows on his face. In several he is underexposed, and yes, I agree he looks green.
