This years fawns are still hanging around with their mothers and probably will continue until food becomes even more scarce. While out today, after this season's first snow (only an inch), I noticed one fawn looking off in the distance. He/she had spotted its mother, ran to her, and began trying to nurse. Of course having been weaned the mother refused but I witnessed it, only I missed the opportunity to capture an image. Below are a couple of images of this years fawns experiencing their first snow.

Nice set, P! I wish there were some where I hang out. I wouldn't mind a little of that snow, either. (just for an hour or two :cool-98:)

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments and sharing your thoughts - very much appreciated.

Very nice photos. I love the coloring of their coats this time of year, and snow as a background is perfect. I love a Whitetails face this time of year!

I very much agree! During the hot summer months, some of the older deer look like they just got up out of bed and didn't brush their hair. During the winter, when their coats are puffed out due to the cold they appear to have just come from a beauty salon. And it is amazing how their change in color blends in so well with the dead leaves of the forest. Thanks for sharing!
