Background Support Systems

Another newbie question...

I want to purchase a portable background support system. Is there anything I should look for or are they all about the same?



Also, I shoot mainly on location. Will a muslin background work outside? This might be a stupid question but I can't afford a studio yet so I have to work with what I have.

For a freestanding frame look for a large base for each stand, and have sandbags, or other weights, to keep it from tipping over. Muslin will be fine outside, but again have weights for the bottom and large clips for the sides.
