$Red breasted Nuthatch.webp.webp$Yellow Warbler-Brian Turner-Open.webpAfter the overwhelming response to "Red Wing Blackbird", I thought, "What the hell, try again".

I like the Cooper's hawk, my kind of shot. Funny seeing a nuthatch not upside down. The warbler shot looks like the focus was a little more on the leaves and the bird is a little soft and hidden by the foliage.

I agree with CC the hawk is cool.

yup, certainly agree on the focus issue. Thanks for comments. Someday I'll get to one of your threads before it's all been said.

I think the hawk would look better with that yellow blob cropped off.

Yeah, I often get out of focus foreground crap when shooting birds. Not sure I'd like that tight of crop. This guy only hung around for two shots and I liked this one best. Thanks for comment.

Mind if I try something with it?

I really have C&C to add beyond what has already been said, but man, that hawk shot is nice--those eyes! ONE of these days, I'll find me one that isn't so far up in the sky I can't get a decent shot!

I also really like the framing you've given the nuthatch.

By all means. please!

Hard to go wrong when I start out with a great shot!

Scott, this "pops" so much more than the original, so explain to me what you did to it. Please. Thank You. :D

Very little, actually. As I said, it's hard to go wrong when I have a good starting point. I cropped it obviously, I darkened it slightly to bring up the saturation, there is a little limb in the original that showed up in the corner that I cloned out, and finally I did a rather heavy noise reduction on the entire image and then removed it on the bird. The last step simply smoothed out the background and left the bird alone. Total time: Less than 5 minutes.

Wow! I really didn't think I'd like that tight of crop. It's great. Not really good at the other things you did, but will give it another shot. Thanks all.
By the way, noone asked ,but these were all cropped fairly heavily to start with.

Wow is right! Pat yourself on the back, that's YOUR shot not mine.
