Backyard Sparrow

I said it in your other thread, but you really do have to just try to get closer. :)

This is my best sparrow (I'm only posting this because I'm just starting out as well and have less reach than you). Sparrows are hard, that soft grey colour seems to be a challenge for me. But I was literally less than 6' from this guy.

I think it was Danny, or maybe sm4him that told me - focus, take a shot, then take a step closer, take another shot, then a step, etc - see how close you can get. Wear dull clothing. It takes a lot of patience.

I am practicing on walking in on birds while I keep the camera focus point on it while its continues focusing and walking slowly while I rip off some shoots for each step closer.I nailed a few skittish birds this way. Sure a lot went in the bin but got keepers as well. Almost took a dive in the pond one day when I tripped on something and almost went head first in the drink camera and all but caught my balance in time.

The clothing is a good idea,I mean you really don't have to camo out but I wouldn't go birding with neon colors either. make your self blend as much as possible.
