Looking at the fence behind the outhouse, it appears to be appropriate size. I think the tree just dwarfs it in perspective. Like this shot. Ed

It is a regular height outhouse (actually a 2 holer) and a fantastic tree in the backyard of my daughter and son in law's home in rural NY.

Does anyone know what kind of a tree this is?

The former long term owners of the property spared no expense in outfitting the house and gardens and I wonder if this is a rare variety.

Sycamore - Platanus Americanus "American Plane Tree"

I call it "sneeze weed" because when you chip up the leaves you get a nose full of very sneezy dust.

Oh wow, I was right! I was thinking sycamore too but figured I was wrong because I'm usually pretty terrible at identifying plants and trees

Heh, heh. I was a professional tree trimmer in a previous life. I knew the botanical names of practically everything in Southern California.
