Spent about a half-hour with this badger last week. I was fairly close, but upwind and it didn't exhibit much more than curiousity with me. At one point, it even laid down in the sun and fell asleep. A sleepy badger doesn't make for a very exciting photo, so here's another one.

This makes me wish I had the funds for a lens like the one you used here! How far away were you?
He does look somewhat bored with you! ;)

I think he is thinking "GIVE ME A BREAK" lol. Great shot. good argument for getting a long tele.

Love the expression, great capture Karl :)

Just a rock solid composition. The only thing I don't like about it is your large watermark. Please consider making it a lot smaller, drop the Photography, and place it as low into the corner as possible.

The badger is pretty cool, but pic 18 on your site of the bighorn with the gray sky is insane - really cool!

He's giving you the stink eye for sure!

very nice picture, really liked youre website too! a lot of impressive pictures!
where are you from to get much wildlife?

Your pictures on your web site are awesome. Did you take them with a canon 7d? Because If you did it will make my decision to buy the 7d much easier. Great pictures.

The 500mm lens is a great lens... I love to shoot wildlife, so I've never regretted the purchase. In this case, I was probably about 20 yards away from the badger. Not because I want to be chased down by one of these nasty guys... but because I didn't realize it was there as I walked up on it. My website has some shots where it's looking straight at me from out of the den.

The bighorn (#18 in the Featured Photos gallery) is one of my favorites... the background is not actually the sky, but a rocky, snowy cliff behind the ram.

Thanks! I live in Montana just about halfway between Yellowstone & Glacier Parks - the entire area is paradise... lots of wildlife.

The website was shot with a variety of cameras... but mostly Canon 40D's, 50D's, and the 7D. The 7D is a great wildlife camera... it has features the others didn't have - especially the focusing system.

Thanks again... Karl
