I like it but have prepared to be hammered by those of you with a good eye for photographs. I took this at a bird show at the local zoo. It seems to be a little washed out at the top of the eagle's head. I did not do any adjustments in Photoshop. This is how it came out of the camera.

Thanks for looking.

It's not bad, the lighting is really harsh tho and is washing out some of the head, a bit of the wing, and the tip of the beak. It's also casting a showdown on the face.

Not bad, but as you said, the feather detail is lost in the white feathers on the head. Also, the lines from the flag are not horizontal.

The lighting looks good though.

Jake

I'll go back to the zoo and try again. Thanks for your feedback.

I suggest going back at a different time, like the magic hour where the sunlight is not harsh. A good overcast day would be perfect.

Yeah, definitely try very early in the morning as soon as they open or even late in the day as they are closing. Cloudy days are great as well. Try setting your camera white balance to "Cloudy" whether it is cloudy or not and shoot RAW + JPEG. Take a Tripod/monopod with you and try bracketing some of the photos.

What type of equipment do you have?
What type of Post Processing software do you have?
Do you have any experience using the software or are you new to it?

Thanks. The show is at specific times of day. But the cloudy day idea is great! I'll do that.Canon 60d camera. This was shot in (brace yourselves) full auto mode. I've since switched and gained experience and am using full manual. I am now shooting jpg + raw.I have adobe production suite 5.5. This picture was resized to post here but no other processing was done on it. I have done some work in photoshop but not where I hope to be yet. One thing I have learned by reading posts here is it's best to get the best pic from the camera instead of depending on photoshop after the fact. One nice thing about the bird show is it is predictable. Same birds, same locations. So I will return and repost another day. Thanks, all!!!Jerry
