Nice shot - like the birds in the picture, but it is a little "flat" because I am having trouble distinguishing the beach from the water and the water from the sky.

I didn't want to over-edit as that is "very frowned upon"
Any suggestions to making more of a distinction between the two, Unfortunately the beach was just like that, Oreti has very plain colours- Even the sand is dull.
The before PP is significantly different to this post edit.

Don't allow what is "frowned upon" to limit your creativity. Each shot is different and will require different amounts of editing. What is too much editing on one shot will be perfect on another.
