Shot out my den window. Normally I never see these normally except circling waiting for their order of Mac Carcass to appear on a road. Read an interesting article on how a common drug used here in pain medication (Diclofenac: Voltarin) was used heavily in India on cattle. The residue in the carcasses that the vultures ate killed off most of their species. They attributed 500,000 human deaths to the loss of these living garbage cleaners.

Humans really have clue what they’re doing much of the time. Around me they killed off bald eagles, fishers, Canada Jays Ravens, crows etc poisoning carcases to kill wolves. Now that the wolves are protected, none of the crazy things they were suppoesd to be doing have become worse, but the eagles are back, and the wolves are back. As are the vultures. They were rare up here for a while, but migrated back from the U.S.

None of the vicous wolf attacks predictd by those who wanted to kill them have happened. It was all fear mongering. My wife and dogs wandered into a resting pack a month or two ago. They never even got up, just growled a warning.

I have simlar images taken from my deck, sitting i a nearby tree. About 60 of them live over at the town dumpsite.

I am not sure why the call them "dumb animals" when we the humans do most of the really dumb things.
