Behind the fence

Looks like a quiet day on TPF... in the meantime I went out for a walk with my kid and snapped this man.

To much frame behind the man. I would have cropped the car out. I think this shot would have been fantastic if it was not for the horizontal fence line across the mans mouth - face. That is just killing it for me. Sorry

Thanks DarkShadow. Agree Re fence line, damn, should have jumped As for the car - if I crop it, what will be left there- just the man, the fence and some grass? To me there is a line between a street photo and a portrait. With a street photo I want to leave some context, some movement, some life in the frame even if it is not aestetically very pleasing. The car moving in the oposite direction at least creates some dynamic tention and justifies dodgy sharpness. Removing it all takes us into a portrait category. And for a portrait - as you said that damn horizontal line and some other imperfections makes this shot quite poor. As a street shot, with his look and the eye contact it kinda works, just about. As a portrait of an old man - no way.

Yes, an interesting man and very photogenic I think, a great model for a proper portrait.. He must be local, but I have never seen him around, I would have remembered.

PS And at least the vertical line is straight between his eyes so I was not entirely unlucky

But I can tell you guys - this fence is probably the most important part of this image. As sad as sounds.
