Supposed to be named crystal black, . It looks more brown actually.

It hard to tell what you are expecting from the forum members at this point.
you mention cc welcome...
so here it is, your subject is interesting, but your pictures are a little out of focus and the colors are flat.

Thanks for looking at them, I am wondering if it is my lack of skills or the capability of my camera is already at its limit, I couldn't seem to be able to improve on the focus no matter what I do.
That's precisely why I will stick around a little because I see there is so much I can learn here.

To be able to capture these little guys, you probably had to zoom in really close, and that is a problem, the most you zoom, the harder it is to get a focused picture. What can help is the use of a tripod, or try to get closer without using the zoom keep your camera at 50 mm focal length and use the macro function of your camera if you have one. there is a minimum focus distance, if you try to get closer than that, you will not have a clear shot.
If you increases the shutter speed it will help, provided you have enough light... or use a flash
Your camera has some limits, but if you know how to use it, you can probably improve quite a bit before you have to change camera!
You can also post more pictures with specific questions, and make sure your settings are showing.

your file is also overexposed, and noisy, I have just copied the layer in photoshop and use multiply on the second layer and despeckle the noise. it makes a little improvement

Indeed, much nicer, lol. I've been to a few camera shops and brought along my fire red shrimp in a bottle today.

Am I a nasty customer or what, told them I wanted a particular camera and macro lens, asked them to use the particular pairing to snap picture and I'll buy if similar effect can be duplicated. Well, the smart sales man said they didn't have memory card, luckily I have one in my pocket. So they say they cannot use the new macro lens as it is new...

Will shop another day. I will look around for good deals and then continue my macro shooting after I get an entry level dslr with macro lens.

I have this lens Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D
that is both excellent and low priced, there are several macro lens our there, but I can only recommend what I know
It can be used for portrait and macro, and it is really sharp and high quality!

For a one cm shrimp, and using the macro lens, how far would you place the camera from the shrimp?

Lighting used is aquarium Ada 2ft led lights. Quite strong
