I find the tonal range and color palette of the children too closely matches that of the background, in the first shot. It's a very charming photograph, but I find it a little visually confusing/chaotic for that reason. The second one is less visually confusing, at LEAST as charming, and I find I have a little trouble believing the light. It feels overfilled relative to the ambient, to me, just a touch.

These are minor quibbles, the photographs are very nice!

Well, this time of the year when there is no snow, Colorado looks kinda depressing. If they had done it a month ago it would look more like this.
