Could anyone tell me what the best times of day are to do outside shoots? Does the location make a difference with how the lighting appears when working in the outdoors?

Best time of day depends on what you want your final photograph(s) to look like. Dawn, dusk and times near them are popular.

Location will make a difference, especially dependent on whether the subject is in the shade or not and what's around the subject that might color-cast them from the light bouncing off it.
