Title: Big Boy

black-bear-73.jpg

Location & Date: Ice Box Canyon, Yellowstone National Park | June, 2014

Camera Set-Up: Nikon D800 w/ 200-400 at 400mm

Shutter Speed: 1/2500

Aperture: 4

ISO: 1600

Note:

Though black bear sightings are common in Yellowstone, it’s rare to find a black bear this beautiful, this big and this well lit. We were doing an early dinner run to the greatest restaurant on Earth, Miner’s Saloon, when we came across this cinnamon-coloured black bear walking the roadside near Yellowstone’s Ice Box Canyon, between Lamar Valley and the Northeast Gate.

Great shot!
I was wondering what the reason is for shooting at a 1600 ISO, and 1/2500 sec? I am still learning about photography, so i was just wondering. :)

Probably because he shooting FX, so 1600 ISO doesn't really matter much, higher shutter speed will ensure sharper image.

Good point! I always forget how good those high end cameras do at high ISO. LOL
