Looks like the closest shot of a Ring-Billed Gull I've ever seen. :D

Thanks. Lousy weather around here today so I stop by the ocean to see the surf conditions. Calm surf but plenty of different gulls. This guy was looking for handouts literally. Flew by and feed out of my hand.

It's a gorgeous close-up! Around here, they are considered pretty common, and obnoxious, gulls--but I can't help it, I find them highly entertaining.

Agreed, it's a Ring-Billed Gull and a very nice shot of one. I think, but could be wrong, that the mottling on its head indicates that it's a juvenile in its first winter. It probably had that mottling all over its body. Next year it should be pretty much solid white.

Thanks. I see them all the time but never really pay much attention to them.

I hope I am right, but I believe it was Scraig that stated one should not overlook birds like gulls and crows just because they are so common. I don't post them much, but I do get my shots.
