Here's an assortment of birds from this past week. We had this freak show storm in the midwest which made for some very confused birds that weren't expecting snow..

All shot with the D500, 200-500 f/5.6, varying apertures and shutter speeds, Auto ISO

Great looking set, I need to strive for this kind of crispness.

Very nice set of images
Thanks!

The look on the robin's face says it all! Nice set.
The Robin's face is saying what we're all thinking after this show storm...

Thank you! For these I think I shot close to 250 frames, culled them down to 60 that were acceptably sharp, and ultimately only about 15 were sharp enough to hold up to my processing. Especially with these little birds they dart so quickly that I may do a 10 shot burst and one, or even none, are in focus or sharp. For stationary birds I use 1/2500 second shutter speed and for moving or flying birds I use 1/4000. If it's truly a stationary bird you could go lower, but at the long focal lengths even a little movement is significant. Getting close is also very helpful to reduce or avoid cropping. I was between 10 and 30 ft from all these birds.
