Fairly nice conversion, but a few comments - my first response was "What the $%#$ is that coming out of its mouth?" After, that - general impressions- 1) backgound is very cluttered with all the dead trees in it...for me, they kinda detract from the central subject - the cow...2) the horizon is almost right in the middle of the picture, again, not a usually desired situation - look up "rule of thirds".

I am also curious on how you did the conversion, as it might look a bit better with a slightly lighter sky but then that's just me...

Also, there is a Black & White Gallery in this forum - might get different feedback if you posted the image there.

Cheers,

Have to agree... I was about to comment on the large cigar coming out of the cow's mouth - definitely the first thing my eye went to.

I'm not too hot on the cow, mostly because I can't see much of her and I'm not sure if she really has a large stick in her mouth or it's just a tangent. I am really diggin' the landscape, however, and see a lot of potential in it. I'm getting a surrealist vibe that I'm pretty excited about. :D

thanks. wow I didn't really notice the stick on the cows mouth its just the angle haha. I think I'll have to go back and maybe just do a landscape shot without the cow.

Along with the other suggestions on my monitor it seems to be underexposed.

I like it, I just wish there was a little more detail in the cows head.

It is good compositional technique to give the cow some space in the image frame to look into, but if the cow was the intended main subject, why does the cow occupy such a small portion of the image frame?
The landscape and sky have more visual weight, by dent of scale.

The horizon is very near the center of the frame which tends to make a landscape shot less dynamic by reducing any sense of drama or tension.

I can't illustrate the above to you, or others looking at the thread, because you have chosen My Photos Are NOT OK to Edit.

Your B&W conversion leaves the shadows somewhat blocked.
