How is my conversion?
How do you all convert your images to black and white?

As per your conversion... I can't say that it appeals to me. I'm not overly fond of that "over exposed" look. But thats a personal thing...

When I convert to B&W, using Gimp, I select Image > Mode > Grayscale. And depending on the image, I add a bit to the contrast...

It's a little too bright for my tastes. I convert a few different ways, but mostly I use LR3 presets and season to taste. LR3 has some really good conversions.

I also used Grayscale in some of mine...it was the first thing I learned on photoshop

wow that's bright!
i normally just shoot in black n white, it looks soooo different, the contrast is so nice!

please think about converting after shooting in color, it will give you more options and better results.
