Mummy, Daddy and Baby gull all hanging out in the relative safety of the local village pond.

I have noticed a distinct pecking order (literally) amongst the three gull species here - Black Headed, being the smallest are at the bottom, bullied by the Herring Gulls which are in turn bullied (badly) by the large Black Backed gulls who seem to really get a kick out of terrorising every other seabird anywhere near them.

Fantastic gull observation! It seems that the neighbourhood pond has developed into an amazing hierarchy of squawks and beaks. There are black-headed gulls acting as minnows to the sharks of Herring Gulls, who are then trained (literally) by the enormous Great Black-backed Gulls at the top!

Many thanks :)
Actually the pond os a safe haven, only swans, coots and ducks here for the black headed gulls, the Herrings and Black Backed stick mainly to the beach area just a few hundred yards beyond.
