What I have here is a light box and a paintball gun. As you can see-- the dimensions inside the rim of the box are different due to perspective. I'm using a Sony Handycam fixed at 21 inches above the lightbox surface. Is there anything I can get to make this camera see the lightbox without the "flair" (I'm not a photographer for sure)? Is this where a wide-angle lens is needed? Would it solve the problem? How much money will I have to lay down to get something that will remedy this problem? Thanks

What is it that X+ represents? The inner sides of the light box, or the frame around the front edge?

I guess I don't understand what you're wanting to do..... remove everything outside the X dimension? Why not just crop it?

No you will need a telephoto lens, a really long one if you want to minimize the flare on the side.

Well, one thing you can do to get rid of the walls.

Or you can just photoshop it away. Not sure exactly what your end goal is here.

I failed miserably at making myself clear. I don't care that I can see the flair. My problem is that the flair in the light box frame demonstrates that things closer to the camera will be perceived as larger even though they're not. That's why the bottom of the frame is labelled X while the top inside is marked X+. The top surface of the gun seems larger than the bottom surface. My CNC will machine the perceived measurements. It's probably just not possible to do anything about it. But, being a non-photographer, I thought I'd ask.

You need to make sure that the sensor is parallel to the work. That should eliminate your problem, if I'm understanding exactly what the problem is...

So X represents the far side of the light box, X+ is the near side?

If so, shoot with the longest lens you can lay paws on.
