Blossoms and petals

I've been feeling sick the last several days and haven't gotten out to shoot much. So today when there was a break between the clouds in this storm, I went outside to snap a few shots of the blossoms on the trees. Was using my Canon 50mm macro lens hand-held, which is a no-no I suppose. Plus, I don't have the equipment or experience to do focus-stacking (I will get into that one day, I'm sure).

How do you all get the best shots of blossoms on trees? Macro hand-held? Macro on a tripod? Some other lens and just crop it down later?

5. Some tulip petals that had fallen off. Laid them down to take a shot, and then saw the left-over remnants of its pollen in the shot. I kind of like it.

6. The 7 year old brought me a dandelion flower she had picked off and wanted me to shoot it. I thought it looked reasonably comfortable on the tulip petals I had picked up.
