Blue Angels performance in Firt Worth

Used Nikon D7100 with Nikon 70-200 VRll. Like to get some feedback and suggestions

Each plane looks as though it could be sitting still. Yet there is no doubt they are traveling at an excessive rate of speed. Good shots.

Thank you all for replying back. For the last 10 years I used Sony F828 in auto mode. I did not realized how much fun I missed till just over a year ago I bought Nikon D7100 and love more and more to shot in manual mode. It's a real fun. Bought few books about photography but mostly use YouTube to learn. Thanks again.

One of the thumb rule in taking airshow or any airplane shots is not to shoot the bottom of the plane....but shoot when you can see the cockpit and the pilot and the side of the plane, aka...while they are banking...(Photo #2). #1 is the best one of all of them. The Angels and the Thunderbirds are good at this so the aim is to shoot with a cloud background. A good shot on a sunny day will be one that has the flicker of the sun embracing the airplane though sometime this can also be overdone. On a cloudy day, adjust the EV. The best setting is Shutter Priority. You choose the shutter speed and the aperture is taken cared of by the camera. You use the manual setting on static airplanes (on the ground shots) because these guys are very fast on the air and you cannot always catch up with their act.

Nice job. However they only use the smoke trails for a portion of the show. You have to wait for it. This was 10 years ago so maybe they stopped smoking.

Thank you for suggestion . A lot of things to learn ahead. I am on vacation in Destin, Fl. Like to go on Tuesday or Wednesday to Pensacola to see Blue Angels practice. Hope to weather will not mess up plans
