Just been practicing bouncing flash lately. The subject is very shiney so some glares. Which do you prefer? All these were bounced flash, no direct flash.

I like the first shot in the first couple. The colors seem darker and richer.

I think I like seeing the wood's detail more in the second couple of pics. So I guess I prefer the second shot more, though they seem pretty similar and it's probably just my preference of seeing the wood's detail.

The darker of both takes (1 & A) for me as well.

I think they look great. Did you set a custom WB?

 I like the second set of each.

The first 2 weren't edited. They were just with different ways of bouncing the flash (side vs using back wall) and using FC.

I stood about 10 ft away and zoomed in with the 70-200 lens.

Emily, I didn't use custom WB just because I know for weddings I wouldn't but just fix it in RAW. As far as end set of images, I made A more desaturated and B more saturated along with bringing out some details in the woods which gave some textures to them.

Sage, B is definitely my fav of these. I relaly liked the edit. I wanted to get some opinions here also. Thanks for that.

Since the big players on the forum aint gonna give credit where it's due, I will. Your skills are progressing nicely. I realize that this isn't your best work but it looks GOOD for testing shots. I don't consider you a beginner anymore and if I had to put my money on it, of all the beginners here, as to who becomes a paid professional first, my money's on you. Yes, I think you have the drive and determination. I wish more poeple would see that.

All of them look pretty good Mo, pretty good!

I really like the 2nd edit. What did you do?

#2 here, but is that any surprise?
The brighter the better! The more saturated the better! hehe

I like 2 and A on my screen. Which one with fong dong Mo? LOL

I also like the edit in 'B'. Maybe a different angle for the flash bounce, but the detail of the wood and the colors in this image grabbed my attention.

Thank you guys! Lightspeed, thank you very much! It doesn't matter to me if certain people want to ignore my work that is actually good and ***** about only work I did wrong. I know my place in 6 months of photography.

Eric, I played with contrast and curve a little on the 2nd edit. I also added slight noise to pictures. It involved multi layers. If I remember the exact thing I did, I'll pm you.

Emily, no custom WB was used. Reason for that is because I shoot RAW so I can always fix that in PP. Although using flash, I didn't change the WB in the first images. But the 2nd image, although I didn't change the WB I did make it a little desaturated and added some color pop. Reason for not using custom WB is because shooting weddings, I will not always have time to change custom WB.

PB, I'll take another shot w/ different angle of flash to see how that works out.

As for fong, nope. I just used the flash on its own w/out any diffuser. The walls/ceilings were what I used as diffusers. I thought I'd make Schwetty a little happy since he's trying to convince me how the Fong isn't worth it. Actually I do agree with him to certain degree. I would much rather use flash w/out any diffuser attached to it because it will make it much easier for me to handle it. The lightsphere is just too big to really store anywhere as I'm walking around. I don't carry a bag anymore and even when I did, it was just too large for me to place anywhere. So for me at least, it's much easier to use flash w/out it. Although I might use the sto-fen diffuser outdoor.
