"Brand" Curiosity

Once again, Hello All.

While searching through article and YouTube reviews, it’s very clear that people like what they like and they don’t bother with what they don’t. I know that some accessories may offer perks that other do not, but I also know when you find a brand that you are comfortable with and it meets your expectations, that’s enough.

Specifically speaking, when it comes to memory cards and card readers, what brand do you use?

Do you believe what you use has the better perks (i.e. buffer speed, download speed), or is it just that brand that you fell in love with and never strayed from it?

Sandisk or Kingston. The reason being I've never had a solid state memory failure using either brand in computers or cameras for many years. I know they are reliable so I stick with them.

With memory cards, it is reliability that matters most. The speeds are printed on the label, so that's not an issue. As soon as I hear of problems with a certain brand, I will not purchase that brand. I use Sandisk because of its excellent reputation.

I currently use Sandisk because they are apparently the most reliable.

Namely about Lexar one hears bad things. Only the fastest XQD cards really work with the D500, apparently.

Card readers ? Dont care about brand. If the card reader is damaged, I just have to buy a new one. If a card is damaged... I may lose data.

Generally Sandisk but I've got a couple Lexar which have worked fine for me. I use SD and the reader is whatever was put into the laptop (Samsung).

I tend to stick with SanDisk and Lexar.

Lexar also makes my favorite reader. Having tried a few (flakey) readers over the years, I've run into lots of problems with the reader failing to recognize the card, needing to be reset (disconnect from the computer and reconnect to get it to reinitialize itself), etc. But the Lexar readers I've used always "just work" without a hassle.
