....not sure I understand the question (beginner)...I think I can use the Proflash in the "P" mode to overide the pop-up flash if that is what you mean...

yup.. that is what I meant. In order to answer your question, I need the specifications on the Proflash unit. Guide number whether or not it supports TTL metering etc...

The easy answer would be to get the Canon to insure complete functionality and compatibility.
