Bright light through lens

So i was trying to do a macro of a light bulb, and i mean those powerful ones that are like 2million candle power. Anyways, i wasn't directly pointing the camera at the light but at a slight angle. Is this bad? I know its prob. not but Im just paranoid lol

Are you trying to photograph the filament? If yes then try reducing the voltage to the lamp to reduce the amount of heat and light emitted but still keep the filament heated enough to be visible.

Use an ND (neutral density) filter(s) on the lens.
