A couple shots yesterday with my Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. Admittedly, I used a fast shutter speed to capture anything flying and therefore underexposing these a little. I pushed the exposure in post which caused some noise. (I don't use a flash)

Nice macro work, Kirk. Teaching me how it's done.
Are you making use of exposure compensation?

Thank you very much. I personally don't consider it "true macro" but it's definitely "close-up". I'd actually rather take pictures like this than macro pics with my 105 mm Sigma macro because that type of focusing (leaning forward and back) with a true macro lens wears me out and is just a pita sometimes. I use exposure compensation when I have to but I didn't with these, although I was close to it. The f/5.6 and ISO 800 got me through without much noise. I was also at 1/500th so that could've been slowed down by at least half it I'd wanted to before going to e.c.. Thanks for reminding me that it exists, though, I sometimes forget about E.C. (it's an old fart thing ;)) Have a good 1.
