Just had some extra money roll in, so that means I'll finally be buying the 60d i've been wanting.
I'm choosing not to go with the 18-135 kit lens and possibly something a little more suitable for me.
I do a lot of landscape shots, plus walk around shooting of flowers and whatnot.
So I was looking at canons 50mm lens.
Anyone recommend a lens for under $500 that might be more suitable? Doesn't have to be Canon.

50F1.4,851.8, 100F2.8 macro. All three are great! If you like macro maybe get the 50 and some extension tubes, obviously the 100 is a macro but maybe a little long if its your only lens.

A 50 mm on a crop sensor Canon will give an FOV equivelent to 80 mm, about 60 mm more focal length than most landscape lenses.

The 50 will be fine for flowers and whatnot, but is pretty long for landscapes - unless you shoot iwith the 50 and the camera in the vertical format and make multiple exposures to then stitch together.

For landscapes I mostly rely on a 12-24 mm zoom.
