totally great idea and just needs some rethinking of the edit to bring it off.
The hands, face and sleeve just merge into the darkness.
The bars are a bit too bright and textureless; they need to be gritty
the face is off-center and that last really hurts.
Really close to being great.

I tend to agree with Lew.

For me, the bars could almost be so dark as to blend in, and that would possibly make me go "Hmmm, he looks sad and despairing...wonder why?...Oh yes, there are bars...he's a prisoner!" and so on. So less "in yer face" for the bars.

Hope you get my meaning.
