Buying new camera questions

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and new to the hobby as well. I am looking at couple cameras, either the Canon 60d or T2i. This will be my first DSLR and my questions are the following.

Which of these cameras would be best for a starting photographer?

Is it better to buy body only and buy the lens you want instead of the kit lens?

Are the tamron and sigma lenses any good?

I really like the 60d but sure if I want to spend the extra money for the additional features or if I even need them.

I just bought the T2i and a Sigma 18-200mm OS lens. The total was ~$950 or so. I'm a beginner and bought this setup because I feel like I can grow with the T2i and the Sigma is an affordable "everyday" lens that I can use until I determine additional lenses for my shooting style.

If I go with the T2i what would be a good lens to start with? I don't want to spend over a thousand total for cam and lens.

I am open to tamron, sigma, or canon lenses.
