1. I don't like this photo. If you hadn't told us what the subject is, I wouldn't be able to tell and it seems OOF. Also, it's centered and there is too much dead space around it.
2. Love the composition and the vibe here. I would like to see more of the rule of thirds applied though so the horizon is further away from the vertical center line. I like this one a lot though.

I couldn't disagree mroe with ph0enix on the first one...I think it's a great photo. It is an abstract piece of art. You can't tell what it is until you read the title and there's nothing wrong with that. I love the lighting there and how it blends into the black.

Second one is nice too. It has a softened feel to it. Is that an effect you applied to it? I'm not saying that it's bad, just curious.

I really don't like pic #1, as I had no idea of what it was. The foreground is out of focus, and since it's abstract qualities is what you're after, it just didn't do anything for me.

Pic #2 is certainly an excellent picture. Love the setting sun in contrast to the two people in the canoe. The low angle to the water really adds depth to the scene. Even a lower angle and thus moving the horizon up would really make this an outstanding photograph.

#1 Interesting form. I think I would have preferred if you didn't tell me what it was. I think a tighter crop is called for. I also agree with Joel that perhaps a deeper depth of field would be appropriate.

#2 This is quite nice. I probably would have given it a bit more exposure. However, definitely a keeper. Well done.
